Remember Me?.......

Hi there girls, I haven't run away with the circus.....
just in case you were wondering where I had disappeared to.....
A caravan wouldn't be big enough to hold my fabric stash, so I'll be staying put!!

Anyhoo, there has been some creating taking place and loved up Budgies have appeared on a N2M (new to me) blanket.

"Tweet Hearts Forever" first made an appearance around Valentine's Day and I had so much fun making them, I had to make some more......as I do!!

It's bright, it's kitsch but I love it.
 It makes me smile......

This little stitchery is looking for a new home, so if you are interested in purchasing it, head over to my Facebook page where it is patiently waiting for it's new owner to come and claim it.

My stash of blankets has grown recently and I love the turquoise/lime green/lolly pink combos......
Lots of ideas have been forming, but I'm still working through my 'To Do' list and probably won't be playing with any of these ideas till after Easter.

The garden has been languishing in the heat and lack of rain recently but these beautiful Belladonna Lillies have added a spot of colour.......
It seemed that one day there were just bulbs sitting in the garden bed, then a stalk sprung up and  the next day there were beautiful blooms....

The Zinnias continue to bloom and bunches have been picked to pass on to friends and share the 'Zinnia Love'

The little, native, blue banded bees seem to visit late afternoon. They dart quickly from flower to flower and it's hard to get a good pic of them.

Two weeks ago a storm blew in and it was quite wild and windy for a time.
The rain pummelled the ground in big drops down and blew in against the windows.
The sky and the mountains became one under a curtain of grey.

The rain was rushing so fast from the roof top to the tank it
backed up and there was a waterfall flowing out.....

The storm didn't last long and when the rain stopped falling we only had 12 mls, but it was wonderful to listen to it on the roof and see it and smell it as it hit the sun warmed earth.....

Tigger watched the goings on from inside the house.....
He wasn't keen to come outside with me and enjoy it!!

The Maples along our driveway have started to change colour.....Autumn is around the corner and that makes me very happy.
It's been a hot Summer, with very little rain and I think everyone is looking forward to cooler temps.
Fortunately, the nights have been relatively cool, so you can get a decent nights sleep.

Hubby and No.1 are over in Toronto, Canada....a quick 10 day trip, to play at the Folk Alliance Conference.
It's been go, go, go for them, with gigs at crazy times. They won't have time to get over their jet lag before they board a plane to come home again.
They've gone from high 30's temps...shorts and singlet weather to minus temps in Toronto.....they've also hijacked my little, pocket, rocket camera so I hope they got some great snow pics.

Rich played a gig in Huntsville about 2 hours north of Toronto and there were 2 people in the audience wearing
'Yackandandah'
t shirts which were purchased at a little haberdashery store in our town!!

Small world girls!!

So apologies for not being around a little more, but I am still visiting blogs and commenting .

Oops, almost forgot.....
We're getting our own little op shop in town, yippee.....
The most exciting event on my social calender so far this year.
In fact I'm so excited I baked a cake for the opening, shame I didn't read the email properly.
I'm 3 days early, oops!!

PPS....one more thing....it seems that more bloggers are now
'no-reply commment' which means I can't reply to your comment via email which I prefer to do, rather than on my blog.

What do you do?
Reply to comments on your blog?
Seems I might have to go that way, as I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them, as I truly appreciate every comment I receive....lot of head scratching, chin rubbing going on over this one

  3. Hello Claire, it's nice to hear what you've been up to. A little stitching, a little baking, a little weather watching, a little flower picking and op shopping too.
I hope those boys of yours are having a grand time in Canada, it sounds busy but fun.

  4. Shall have to comment in reverse order of topics. I answer comments right on the blog - partly to keep the conversation open, and also because I feel shy about cluttering up other people's in-boxes. (But I LOVE getting responses in my own in-box to my comments on other blogs, so don't know why I'm reluctant to do it myself.) Sometimes I'll also send a private e-mail if something special comes up that I don't want to discuss in public. I don't even know how to reply to blog comments by e-mail - do you have to receive them via e-mail to respond with the same?

I'm amazed at the constant stream of really lovely blankets you get in your charity shops. And a bit jealous. Most blankets here seem to be synthetic and not wonderful at all. :)

Such beautiful zinnias and I love the budgies - the way they lean in towards each other is very sweet.

What a blessing that downpour must have been. Here's to a safe trip home for your Canadian adventurers!

P.S. You'll just have to eat that cake and make another. Darn.

  6. Hi Claire, I love your pile of wooly blankets, that aqua and pink one is gorgeous! I can see some of your cute bunnies and tea cosies looking very cute in aqua and pink. We are getting a nice drop of rain at the minute, the garden really needs it, we missed the storms last week. My zinnias are looking good too, I was inspired to plant them this year after seeing them in your garden last summer, and I'm glad I did! Regarding the comments on blogs, I tend to answer questions on my blog, but I am terrible at responding to everyone, I am trying harder to be more social and reply to each comment, I love getting comments so am trying to be a better comment replier, but it is a work in progress! Your boys really get around with their music, how great for them! Hope you have a great week, Julie :)

  7. Your little budgies remind me of the one I had when I was little, he used to land on my dads beer glass and help himself! :) x

  9. I always read and reply right here on the blog. It's so easy to do. All your new found blankets are gorgeous and I know you're going to transform them into something wonderful! Glad that you got a good soaking rain. All the plants are very happy now, I bet. And that is one amazingly huge rain tank. Hope the boys are having a great time in Canada and come home with lots of good stories to share with you.

  10. I reply to all comments right on my blog (don't want even more clutter in my email). Nice pile of wool blankets you've collected there ... should've sent a couple over with your husband to stay warm! You're husband & son won't be happy to hear we've got a messy storm in the works for tonight. Toronto will most likely be rain, but further north will get snow. Hunstville area is my favourite area in Ontario because it has Algonquin Park where we camp in summer and fall. If they're still here, urge them to go for a dog sledding adventure! So much fun and the snow is still on the ground. Enjoy your week! Oh! and your flowers look amazing as usual ... especially those colourful zinnias! :) Wendy

  11. How could we forget you????
I love the budgies, despite my slight bird phobia! I also love all the gorgeous blankets and all of the opportunity for new life that they represent.
I tend to reply by email to comments, (except when it is a no-reply blogger) having only recently added the reply feature. I am unclear if the person knows that you have replied if they have not ticked the box to get follow ups? I do like the idea of a continuing coversation with the reply feature however, provided that everyone actually knows about it.

  12. Nice to see you in my blog list again :)

The garden and flowers are looking lovely, much more colour than the white Snowdrops we have :)

    Loving those budgies. So cute.

  13. Nice to catch up on what you've been doing Claire :) Lovely to hear about No. 1 Son's music adventures - sounds like he's doing great! Love the budgie hanging and that pile of blankets is full of possibilities - yummy :D

I reply to comments via e-mail - not sure about the 'no reply comment' - I always enjoy a response to a comment but don't necessarily expect one every time. Sorry, I'm absolutely no help whatsoever LOL :)
